Guess what peeps? It’s also National Science week which I am a little late in posting for, it actually ends today but if you feel like getting a bit messy and watching a mini eruption take place from the comfort of your own home I’ve got the perfect little experiment. Please don’t forget to send me pics if you do try this or if you’ve done this before. 🙂
You will need:
· An empty plastic drink bottle
· Coloured paper or masking tape and
paint
· Red food colouring
· Baking Soda
· Salt
· Dishwashing Liquid
· Vinegar
· Newspaper to put underneath as it gets very messy!
Step 1. Remove the lid from the drink bottle and either cover the outside with brown coloured paper or cover it with layers of masking tape, then paint over it with brown paint. You can make it as creative and realistic as you want, but make sure you don’t cover the hole.
Step 2. Put two tablespoons of baking soda and ½ a teaspoon of salt into the drink bottle.
Step 3. Add a few drops of red food colouring and mix together.
Step 4. Add a few squirts of dishwashing liquid.
Step 5. Pour in the vinegar until the volcano erupts and watch it explode!
It’s as easy as that!
Here’s the link to the You Tube video if you want to watch it for yourself. I hope you all have an awesome and relaxing weekend!

Fun! I remember making volcanos with my son when he was younger, so much fun to see his face light up with the blast. 🙂

If you do I’d love to see the pics. You and your daughter can try mixing in different colours too and even adding some glitter in. I am a little obsessed with glitter.
